End waste: Time for a circular economy

End waste: Time for a circular economy

The government has released its draft Circular Economy policy proposal. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go anywhere near far enough.

Every minute 15,000 bottles and cans are littered or landfilled. Our landfills consist of 40% food waste, emitting tons of methane through decomposing, and our coastlines are littered with three-quarters of the rubbish along Australia’s coast plastic that is from our cities.

The current model of consumption and disposal is broken.

We need to take urgent steps to reduce waste. This government needs to know that it’s actions just aren’t anywhere near far enough - make a submission and make your voice heard.
